What about Forillon Park?
Last October when I first started my Quest, I had to answer an important question: what about the national parks I had already visited? Should I visit them again or could they count as “already visited”?
I’ve always loved exploring the parks, hence the Quest, so it’s not surprising that I had already visited 12 of the 47 National Parks, some of them more than once. Prior to starting my Quest I had visited: Terra Nova, Gros Morne, Cape Breton Highlands, Prince Edward Island, Fundy, Thousand Islands, Forillon, Saguenay, Rouge National (before it was a Park – I lived next door), Banff, Jasper, and Pacific Rim.
I discussed the issue with my family and finally decided that the only park that would count for the Quest would be Forillon Park in Quebec. Michel, Ben and I had spent a few days camping inside Forillon Park in August 2016. It's a beautiful park, definitely worth the drive from Ottawa!
Since it had been less than 18 months since the visit, and because it is relatively far from home, I decided it would qualify as having been “visited” as part of the Quest.
But all the other parks Iwould merit a second, or in Banff’s case, a fourth visit. So the tally as of today is: 3 parks visited (Forillon, Thousand Islands and La Mauricie) and 44 to go!
